Cost –

The Accucheck Advantage and Complete are some of the priciest meters on the market ($70, $130).  On the other hand the FastTake monitor is ~ $50. Although OneTouch has been on the market for quite some time it is still about $55 and finally the Elite is about $65.

Overall, the FastTake meter (out of the ones discussed) seems to be the best choice for most patients.  It can hold enough readings so not to overwhelm the patient and is much less painful due to the small sample size required.  Next time, when recommending a meter to a patient or physician make sure not to overlook the FastTake meters!
